We can tell by looking at trees or crops and know what kind they are and know what fruit they should produce. It is not uncommon for a farmer to inspect his crops to see if they are healthy and producing properly. When we go to the store before buying a watermelon, apples, bananas and other fruits or vegetables we "inspect them."

 In Matthew 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. As Christians we are commanded to bear spiritual fruit. Fruit bearing is something that we will do because we love the Lord, not just because it is a command. What fruits are you bearing? In your life are you diligently producing: Love, Joy, Peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance, virtue, knowledge, patience, godliness and brotherly kindness?

If Jesus came by today to inspect your branches would he find it bearing good fruit? bad fruit? Or no fruit at all? If Jesus came to your branches with a basket to collect fruit what kind would He be able to put in that basket? How much would He be able to take with Him? Is your fruit being multiplied or withering away?

August 26, 2010:   We're told to "pray without ceasing," that the "fervent prayers of a righteous man avails much."  We are fond of prayer list and saying "I will pray for you."  Jesus said we will be known by our "fruits."  If your "fruits were inspected," by someone asking "When or at what hour were your praying for me?" Would you be able to answer them without hesitation?  Without making things up? Would they know from your fruits that you have been in fervent prayer for them?Don't think it odd that someone might ask at what hour were you praying for me, I have heard stories from missionaries and experienced events in my own life that caused me to ask if or when someone may have been praying for me.  It is not unusual to find that at times when taking place in my life to find that someone somewhere wa praying for me during that very hour.  If we tell someone  we are going to pray for them, then be sure to pray for them often and fervently.  In fact, one of the best practices is when someone says "will you pray for me" take time to tell them "I will, and why don't we pray about that right now." Take a few moments to lift up a prayer with them and for them.

How many give earnest heed to the things we hear from the Word of God? Or do we let them slip? When we hear the Bible read or take time to read it ourselves we are getting a message (even a "text" message) directly from God.  When we let the things of God slip, we start neglecting so great a salvation

August 23, 2010:
Reading the Book of Hebrews (2: 1-4) with 1 and 3 being the ones jumping off the page at me tonight. Makes me wondering how many are "Playing Church" like children play pretend. They come to church sing the songs, say speak the church lingo and then go home, never once reading their Bible, praying, reflecting (with friends/family) on the sermon or Sunday school lesson.

    August 9 2010: I Will Just Quit
    I have taught a class for many years;
    Borne many burdens-toiled through tears;
    But folks don't notice me a bit.
    I'm so discouraged-I'll just quit!

    Sometime ago I joined the choir;
    That many souls I might inspire;
    But folks don't seem moved a bit
    So what use to sing? I'll just quit!

    I've labored long in women's work;
    and not a task did I ever shirk;
    But folks have talked a little bit;
    And I won't stand it, I'll just quit!

    I've led young people day and night;
    and sacrificed to lead them right.
    But folks won't help me out a bit;
    And I'm so tired, I'll just quit!

    Christ's cause is hindered everywhere;
    And folks are dying in despair;
    The reason why? Just list a bit;
    The church is full of folks who just quit!

    "Author Unknown"
    This timely poem is over 40 years and old was found in stacks of passed down books and hand written notes.

    August 8, 2010:  Coincidence or Disturbing fact: Divorce is up 30% since Facebook became so popular. People meet and catch up and then connect or go off to other areas to chat and eventually hook up and this negatively impacts relationships and marriages

    August 6, 2010:  "Oh my God!"  Think about the frivolous court battle over "God" on our money, in our pledge and prayers. They attack God in these areas, yet most TV/Game how's, movies, even news use the phrase "Oh my God" a clear reference to God. When was the last time you the "anti-God" movement take Hollywood to court over the constant references to God. I know the real reason, but this is Just something for you to think about

    August 5, 2010:.Weds ngt we looked at Acceptable Attitudes in worship found in the 10 Commandments of Ex 20. On way to be accepted is to be reconciled to God, to our brothers and sisters in Christ and without fellowman. In II Cor 5:18-20 we see that is something we are commanded to be reconciled. Is there someone you need to forgive or be reconciled to? Jesus reconciled us to God let us also be reconciled with one another.

    August 3, 2010: Onward Christian Soldiers lyric "at the sign of victory Satan's host flee" Perhaps we miss an important message in 3rd vs. "We are not divided, all one body we, one in hope and doctrine, one in charity." If there is any division among ourselves, Satan attacks there and exploits that division to make the divide greater.... Friends Satan is attacking the church, put on the Armor of God be fervent in prayer and steadfast!

August 2, 2010: According to Romans 1:28-29 mankind makes a individual decision to like or dislike the wisdom, knowledge, commands and Word of God. Today what decisions did you make? Did you chose to walk in the pathways of righteousness or did you take pleasure in sin, and living in disobedience and rebellion against the Creator the Living God?

July 17, 2010: Giving to Missions may help repair your lawmower, other items and save you money! Yes giving can save you money! Not long ago i gave to missions, recevied a mini tool kit. God keeps His promise and opens those Heavenly windows of blessing!

July 11, 2010: CONTAMINATED: Christer H. Johnson said "If your faith isn't contagious, it must be contaminated."

July 9, 2010: Undiluted Faith: Astronaut James B. Irwin said "I ahve encountered nothing on Apollo 15, or elsehwere in this age of space and science, that dilutes my faith in God." (Sidenote: I once had the opportunity to meet James Irwin)

June 27, 2010 Great services today, had an awesome spirit among the folks in attendance, had a few out at work, sick and traveling, as for the rest.simply unaccounted for.   Today we spent time talking about edifying one another and building up the body of Christ.

June  20, 2010 Father's Day:  We had good services today as we honored those fathers in attendance and took time to honor those fathers who are no longer with us, and of course we honored our Everlasting Heavenly Father.  It was good to be in the house of the Lord today.  If you were not there, we certainly missed you.
